Web Werks a leading data center provider recently has bought nearly an acre of land to build a data center in Navi Mumbai. This data center will be of 12.5 megawatts (MW) with an estimated investment amount of Rs 400 crore($55 million). The Data Center land is located on Thane-Belapur Road. The international consultant Savills India facilitated the land acquisition for the Web Werks.

Web Werks is an award-winning Tier III data center provider company in India. And this will be the company’s second data center in Mumbai which will be a standalone Greenfield data center. This new structure of 9,300 sqm will be a next-generation, well-equipped Uptime Tier 3 designed data center. The data center is estimated to be ready by mid of 2022.

Rising demand for Data Usage in India

Considering the rising demand for data usage in India and all across the globe. The demand for data center requirements in India itself will be going to get increase exponentially in the coming 2-3 years. The demand for data centers in Megacities of India may increase by around 15-18 million sq. ft in the coming 2-3 years.

Considering the demand the Niraj Karale, Head Data Centre, Savills India, has stated that:

Web Werks announced a joint venture with Iron Mountain last month, which is a storage and information management services company. As part of the agreement,  Iron Mountain will invest US$150mn primary equity into Web Werks over the next two years.

With this deal, Web Werks further aims to expand its operations in its 3 existing markets and subsequently expand into other megacities of India like Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
