By 2024, MMRDA expects Mumbai Metro Line 2B between Mandale Depot & Chembur to be partially operational. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA)plans to start partial operations of the Mumbai Metro Line- 2B from Mandale Depot and Chembur in 2024. Five stations with a 5-kilometer length will begin operating.

Now, the alignment work between Mandale & Diamond Garden is around 70% finished. A double-deck Metro car depot with a 31-acre footprint that can accommodate up to 72 metro trains at once is being built at the Mandale depot, where more than 55% of the civil work has already been finish. Afterwards, operations will begin along the remaining 23.643 km, which runs from DN Nagar to Mandale.

The Thane–Bhiwandi–Kalyan Mumbai Metro-5 corridor or the Orange line from Kalyan to Ulhasnagar are both being extended by the MMRDA. Within the next two months, a route survey will be complete, and then a DPR will be create. Construction on the 8-km route will begin after government approval.
