The Vastu shastra is all about balancing the 5 cosmic elements of nature that are water, air, fire, space, and earth. If we keep the direction of the specific spaces and placement of things in a particular way as Vastu shastra suggests it can work wonders in one’s life.  By doing so we are creating harmony in our living spaces to maximize our productivity, prosperity, and happiness. Like every other room, Bedroom Vastu Shastra is also very important to have a perfect balance in your life.

Bedroom Vastu Shastra

Here we will be discussing in brief Bedroom Vastu Shastra. Bedrooms are everyone’s personal spaces and that is the place where we relax, rest and get fresh to face any challenges in life.

The Direction of the Bedroom

As per Vastu shastra, the direction of the bedroom should be in the southwest direction. The bedrooms in the southwest bring wealth, health, and prosperity. One should avoid constructing bedrooms in the northeast or southeast zone of your home. Northeast direction bedrooms often create health issues in one’s life. Whereas the bedrooms that are located in the southeast corner of your home create misunderstanding among family members which often results in quarrels among the couple and other family members as well.

But if the bedroom is designed for youngsters then north or northeast direction is best as per Vastu. Also, for kids, the other suitable direction as per Vastu is the east direction, the bedrooms in the east direction help student to excel in the study and have improved intellect.

Master Bedroom Vastu Shastra

If the bedroom is the master bedroom then the occupant should be a married couple of that house. The master bedroom should be rectangular or square sized and there should not be cuts or extensions in the room.

Bedroom Wall Colors as per Vastu

As you know all the colors depict special emotions and have a great impact on our psychology. As per Vastu shastra, they affect our mood, psychology, and also our health. The ideal wall color for the bedrooms is pink, light red, and light green. However, you can paint your bedroom with any kind of light colors and should avoid dark colors.

You should never color your bedroom completely white as it provokes the egoism of human beings. Also never opt for black colors for your bedroom walls it depicts negativity and anger. As per Vastu shastra, black is a representation of Evil as it is a color of Rahu.

The Direction of the Bed As per Vastu Shastra

The direction of the bed should be in such a way that the headrest should be placed either south or west. The ideal sleeping direction should be keeping your head towards the south and your legs pointing towards the north. However, you can also sleep by keeping your head towards the west and your legs poting towards the east. And north-to-south body position while sleeping should be strictly avoided as per Vastu.

If you are a couple then the wife should always take the left side of the bed and the husband should sleep on the right side.

It is recommended to keep the bed away from the wall and only the headrest should be placed against a wall. The bed, if kept in the corner adjacent to the wall can block the energy flow. Similarly, the bed with storage also blocks the positive energy to flow into the bedroom. So, make sure the beds that you are using do not have storage and should be placed along the central wall of the bedroom. By keeping the bed in the central part of the bedroom also allows you to have free space to move around.

The Bed Material To Be Used As per Vastu.

The ideal material to be used to make the bed as per Vastu is wood. The metalic beds often release negative vibrations which may create hurdles in your married life, so one should not use metal beds for sleeping. The Bed shape should always be rectangular and avoid beds that are oval or circular. Also, the beds always should have headrests.

The placement of Mirror as per Vastu

Ideally, the bedroom should not have Mirrors. But due to confined places especially in the metro cities like Mumbai and Delhi, it is not possible to have separate dressing rooms. So, while placing mirrors in the bedrooms make sure that they will not refect the bed or any of its parts as it is not recommended in Vastu shastra by the Vastu gurus.

Also, two mirrors should not be kept facing each other in the bedroom.

Home Decor Things For Bedroom

If the bedroom is utilized by the couple then it is better to decor your bedroom with the home decor things that come in pair. Like the pair of horses, pair of birds, and so on. You can decorate your home with natural flowers and plants and should avoid decorating the bedroom with artificial plants and flowers. The Lighting in the bedroom should be mild and dramatic if it belongs to a couple. Also, there should not be any kind of wiring running exactly above the bed.  One can decorate their bedroom with decorative night lamps with a dim light.

Hanging Pictures in Bedroom

The family pics and a couple of pics can be hanged in the bedroom. The ideal direction to place these photos are in the South-West wall, as this placement increases the bond and harmony between the family people’s relationships.

As per Vastu shastra, it is not recommended to hang ancestors and dead person photos in the bedroom.

Keep The Bedroom Clutter-Free

Clutter creates disturbances in energy flow in the bedroom. So, it is better to keep the bedroom clutter-free to have harmony and positivity in the room.

Make It Aromatic

Aromatherapy always enhances your mood and gets your mind some relaxation. Since the bedroom is a place to relax, keep it fresh and aromatic with some aromatic candles and fresh aromatic flowers.

Do’s and Don’ts As per Vastu

1. One should never place a temple or idols in the bedroom

2. Never keep the broken and unnecessary things in the room.

3. Never keep the window open behind your bed while sleeping

4. Do not keep the bed under the beam running across your bedroom.

5. Never keep dark-colored furniture in the bedrooms.

6. Keep the washroom doors attached to the bedroom always closed.

7. Never keep the home decor with the water fountain in the bedroom

8. The almirah in the bedroom should be kept in the southwest, south or west corner

9. Cactus plant should never be planted in the bedroom balconies
