The Mughal monarch Babur erected the Babri Masjid between 1528 and 1529. Members of the Hindu community, on the other hand, claimed ownership of the location, believing it to be the birthplace of Lord Ram. The temple trust has been raising funds for building through crowdsourcing. According to the trust, it collects roughly Rs 1 crore from the public each month. The trust had received Rs 3,400 crore in daan (gift) from the people as of June 2022. The excess funds would be use to further improve Ayodhya.<\/p>\n

The planned temple measures 360 feet long, 235 feet broad, and 161 feet tall.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The temple was designe by Chandrakant Bhai Sompura, whose grandfather, Prabhakarji Sompura, also constructed the Somnath Temple with his son, Ashish Sompura. In 1992, the 79-year-old architect was appointe. Sompura stated that the Ram Mandir is being built in the Nagara style, in accordance with Vastu Shastra principles.<\/p>\n

The east entrance would be constructed in the Gopuram style, which depicts the temples of the south. The temple’s walls would be covere with artwork representing Lord Ram’s life.<\/p>\n

Opening of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir<\/span><\/h2>\n

The state government of Uttar Pradesh intends to unveil the Ayodhya Ram Mandir to worshipers in December 2023. “Our greatest hope is that by December 2023…we will be able to construct the ground level of the Garbha Griha (sanctorum).” Says the architect.<\/p>\n

However, the artisans would need at least another year to construct the sacred location.<\/p>\n

“You can imagine how much work remains. I believe that by the end of 2024, all of the floors will be done. The interior carvings and iconography would still be completed.”<\/p>\n
