Taxpayers’ PANs that aren’t link to their Aadhaar will stop working as of July 1, 2023.<\/yoastmark> This will prevent them from claiming an income tax refund, prevent them from receiving interest on the refund amount for the time that their PAN is invalid, and force them to pay TDS and TCS at a higher rate. After integrating with Aadhaar, PAN can become operational once more in just 30 days.<\/p>\n

For these individuals, linking Aadhaar and PAN is not require.<\/yoastmark><\/h2>\n

There are four groups to which the requirement to link Aadhaar and PAN does not apply.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

1) Citizens of Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, and Meghalaya.<\/p>\n

2) NRIs, as defined by the Income-tax Act of 1961.<\/p>\n

3) Any person who was 80 years of age or older at any point in the previous year.<\/p>\n

4) Those who are not Indian citizens.<\/p>\n

Individuals who fit into one of the aforementioned categories are exempt from the requirement to link their PAN and Aadhaar before the deadline. Yet, users are free to voluntarily link the two documents if they so choose. By the deadline of June 30, all other people must link their Aadhaar with their PAN.<\/p>\n
