Issue With Encroachment In Bagmane Tech Park

Bagmane Tech Park is now being investigated by the BBMP for encroaching on a stormwater drain that caused significant flooding in some areas of Bangalore during the first week of September 2022. Although the tech park acknowledged infringing on a stormwater drain, it claimed that Purva Parkridge’s builder was accountable for the same. The residential complex Purva Parkridge was constructed by renowned real estate developer Puravankara Ltd.

Bagmane Tech Park was determined to have encroached on the stormwater drain by 2.4 metres.

A survey of Puravankara Purva Parkridge revealed that two of the 149 villas on the site have encroached by 2.5 metres on the stormwater drains. To validate this, the property underwent two surveys.

The verdict of the court will determine the next step. According to reports, hundreds of Bangalore’s high-profile builders have illegally encroached on and plugged stormwater drains, causing the city to flood severely.

 

Demolition In Bagmane Park

Bangalore’s municipal organisation, BBMP, has begun a demolition operation as a result of the severe waterlogging in the city. Buildings on the stormwater drain are being demolished by the local authority in order to prevent major flooding in the future. As a result, the Karnataka Lokayukta has advised the BBMP and Bagmane Tech Park to work together.

The tech park asked the Karnataka Lokayukta to request that the demolition drive be stopped on its property, but the Lokayukta declined. However, it has urged local government representatives to follow legal procedures before beginning any destruction. According to the BBMP, the demolition work will proceed in accordance with the High Court’s directive.

The developer of Bagmane Tech Park destroyed its concrete slabs on Tuesday, September 22, 2022. The drainage drain that cut through the campus was covered by slabs that stretched 80 metres, according to the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike). According to a BBMP employee in charge of the Mahadevapura zone’s SWD encroachments, the tech park removed the slabs blocking the drain to allow the correct water flow.

The developer willingly made arrangements for encroachment clearance, the BBMP officer added. As soon as the fresh survey confirmed the encroachments, the developer made this choice. The high court received survey information from the BBMP.

The BBMP’s effort to eradicate encroachments included Bagmane Tech Park. Wipro, RMZ EcoSpace, Prestige Group (Borewell Road), TCED Apartment (Approach Road), Epsilon (Yemlur), Gopalan International School, DivyaSree 77 East, and Nalapad Academy were just a few of the upscale properties featured in the survey.
