Concerning the Green Line Metro Station

The MMRDA is in charge of the entire Green Line Metro Station project (Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority). MMRDA will also construct metro stations and depots in the Thane villages of Vikhroli and Owala.

Based on the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) model, the Green line metro Mumbai construction is divided into five distinct packages. A joint venture between Reliance Infrastructure and the Italian multinational company Astaldi S.p.A. was awarded three packages totaling Rs. 1,584 crores (USD 200 million). A 32.32 km corridor between Wadala and Kasarvadavali in eastern Mumbai would be built under these packages along LBS Marg and the Eastern Express Highway.

The final two packages, worth Rs. 1,048 crores, were secured by a joint venture between Tata Projects Limited and China Harbour Engineering Company (USD 130 million). The proposed Green Line metro was launched with the goal of providing alternative transportation options to local residents.

The Green Line’s first phase is set to begin in 2023, with a number of interchanges connecting it to other metro lines, buses, and suburban rail services. MMRDA publicly announced the line’s official colour on February 28, 2020, as part of an extensive branding campaign to establish style rules, with consultation from Systra MVA Consulting.
