The government will provide an interest subsidy with the following interest rates on housing loans availed by eligible beneficiaries for a tenure of 20 years under the Credit Linked Serviced Scheme (CLSS).

  • 6.5% for

Economically Weaker Section(EWS) or Low Income Group (LIG)

  • 4% for

Middle Income Group (MIG – I) & 3.)

  • 3% for

Middle Income Group (MIG – II)

Cities Covered Under PMAY-U

As per the 2011 census,  500 Class I cities will be covered in three phases,  Phase I,  Phase II, and  Phase III.

1. Phase I (April 2015 – March 2017): 100 selected cities from State/Union Territories were covered in this phase.
2. Phase II (April 2017 – March 2019): 200 cities from State/Union Territories were added in the 2nd phase.
3. Phase III (April 2019 – March 2022): Remaining 200 cities will be covered under this phase.

You may choose a no. of options given below to apply for a house under PMAYU:

1. In Situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR):

In Situ Slum Redevelopment the beneficiaries are people dwelling in slum areas. The slums that are ‘tenable’ and fit for redevelopment are identified and are then redeveloped into an apartment in the same location. These tenable slums are identified by the Urban Local Body (ULB) by using the dataset Census (2011) or under Rajiv Awas Yojana.

2. Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS):

Under this scheme, you can avail a subsidy up to Rs 2.67 lakh under Economically Weaker Section/Low Income Group, Rs 6 Lakh under Mid Income Group 1 & Rs 9 lakh under Mid Income Group 2 seeking housing loans to construct or purchase the houses. Along with interest subsidies of 6.5%, 4%, and 3% for Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Middle Income Group (MIG) 1 & Middle Income Group (MIG) 2, houses measuring 60, 120 & 200 sq. meter.

3. Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP):

The Central Govt. will provide help of Rs.1.5 Lakh per EWS house in projects where at least 35% of the houses in the projects are for the EWS category with a minimum capacity of at least 250 houses.

4. Beneficiary-led individual house construction/enhancements (BLC):

This component takes care of those Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories of people who can’t avail benefits in the above-mentioned schemes. The central Govt. will provide financial help of Rs 1.5 lakh to build or redevelop the pucca or semi-pucca house with carpet area of 21 sq mt. to 30 sq. meter.  Also, in case of enhancement, it can’t take place more than 9 sq. mt. for the construction of the bathroom, kitchen, toilet, etc. as per NBC norms.

Eligibility Criteria for PMAY Urban

The Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation has set a no. of eligibility criteria for the beneficiaries which are as per the following:

1. You or your family members must not previously own a house in any part of the country.
2. If you are married and applying as a married couple as joint owners, then a subsidy will be only given as one.
3. You should not have a history of receiving any kind of housing benefit in any other kind of housing scheme from the government.

If you want to get eligible for PMAYU then you must be from the following mentioned categories.

EWS (Economically Weaker Section)

People of the urban areas whose yearly income is 3 Lacs and below falls under this category. The maximum carpet area to be eligible under this category is 60 sq. meter.

LIG (Low Income Group) :

People of urban areas whose annual income ranges from Rs. 3 Lacs – 6 Lacs falls under this category. The maximum carpet area to be eligible under this category is 60 sq. meter.

MIG-1 (Mid Income Group)

People of urban areas whose annual income ranges from Rs. 6 Lacs – 12 Lacs fall under this category. The maximum carpet area to be eligible under this category is 160 sq. meter.

MIG-2 (Mid Income Group)

People of urban areas whose household annual income ranges from Rs. 12 Lacs – 18 Lacs fall under this category. The maximum carpet area to be eligible under this category is 200 sq. meter.

1: Log in to the PMAY(U) official website on this link https://pmaymis.gov.in/

2: Choose ‘Slum Dwellers’ or ‘Benefits Under 3 Components’ under Citizen Assessment (whichever is applicable).

3: Check Aadhar Card No. and let the system verify your Aadhar details.

4: Fill in the details with the correct information given in the form. Make sure the details that you provide absolutely correct and authentic otherwise, your application might get canceled after verification.

5: Once you have filled in all the information, scroll down, enter the captcha and click on the submit button. Your application process is complete now.

Track Your Application Status Online Under PMAYU?

  • Go to Citizen Assessment and then click on Track your Assessment Status.
  • You can track your Assessment by Assessment or Application ID or by entering your Name, Father’s Name, and your registered Mobile No.
  • Once you enter the details and click Submit, the system will show you the exact status of your Application or Assessment.
