Kitchen Direction as per Vastu

If you are thinking about buying an apartment or thinking about constructing your own home then make sure your kitchen should be in the southeast direction of your home. As per Vastu Southeast direction belongs to the cosmic element fire. So, the fire element in your home which is the kitchen should be in the southeast direction. The entrance, to the kitchen, should be in the east, north, or west direction.

The kitchen should not be directly visible from the main entrance of your home.

The direction of Kitchen Cabinets

You should design the kitchen cabinet in such a way that you should be cooking food facing east. Whereas if there is no option to do any kind of alteration because of space constraints then you should choose the west direction but not north or south.

The direction of cooking stove

The cooking stove should be placed in the southeast direction as this corner belongs to ‘Agni Devta’ which means fire.

The Direction of Sink 

The direction of the sink as per Vastu should be in the northwest direction. And the placement of water like water purifiers and water storage cans should be placed in the north or northeast corner of your kitchen.

The storage cabinets in the kitchen should be in the west or south part of your kitchen.

The direction of Dustbins 

Dustbins in the kitchen should be placed in the southwest, west, or northwest directions. Whereas it is strictly advisable as per Vastu to never keep the dustbin in your kitchen in the northeast corner.

The kitchen must have very good ventilation and a good amount of airflow to maintain freshness thoroughly. Also, it should be brightly illuminated with natural sunlight.  A fresh airy and clean kitchen will attract positivity and good health.

Vastu Tips For Dining Area

The dining area where we consume food means energy is of utmost importance as per Vastu. It should be brightly illuminated either with natural sunlight or with artificial and never should be a dark place. The dining table should not be exactly below the toilets on the upper floor.

The size of the dining table also plays an important role in Vastu shastra. As per Vastu shastra, your dining table should never be round or over shaped. It should be either square or rectangle as they are more rigid and stable. Keeping a mirror opposite the dining table is advisable as per Vastu as it reflects the food and makes it double the size which depicts abundance and wealth.

The placement of the dining table should be in such a way that you should be facing either east, north, or west while eating food. Also, the head of the family should be sitting in the east while consuming food.

Kitchen Colors as per Vastu

As per Vastu kitchen should be painted green, lemon yellow, and orange. However one should avoid painting the kitchen with the color black, gray, or blue. Also one should not color the kitchen with white completely.

While choosing cabinet colors you can choose green, lemon yellow, and orange as they reflect the freshness and give you an abundance of good health.

Pooja Room In Kitchen as Per Vastu is Good or Not?

If you are a vegetarian and cook the only veg food in your kitchen then you can allocate your pooja room in the one corner of your kitchen. However, if you are a non-vegetarian and cook non-veg food in your kitchen then you should not place your mandir in the kitchen.

Other Do’s and Don’ts as Per Vastu for Kitchen

->Do not keep medicines in the Kitchen of your home

->Avoid keeping unnecessary things in the kitchen like an old newspaper and things that you don’t need

->Do not keep thorny plants in the kitchen

->Keep the burners of the Kitchen always clean whenever not in use, doing so it will increase the cash flow in your home

->You can decorate your kitchen with money plant or any herbal plants like Tulsi and Pudina near the window of the kitchen

-> The washbasin and the cooking stove should not be in the same range as well as opposite each other. Because as per Vastu the cooking stove belongs to the fire element and the washbasin belongs to the water element. And these are the two opposite elements and should not be together else they can create chaos in one’s life. The mixing of these two elements can create a rift, quarrels, and misunderstanding between the couple as well as other family members of the house.

-> Apart from the Gas stove, the other things that belong to the fire element like a toaster, cylinder, microwave etc. should be kept in the southeast corner of the kitchen.

-> You should store all the food items like grains and cereals in the southwest direction. Because as per Vastu it invites good luck, growth, and prosperity to one’s life.

-> The best direction to place the refrigerator is in the southwest as it will help in overcoming any kind of hurdles in life.

-> Keep the Kitchen clean as it feels welcoming

-> Avoid the chaos and clutters to spread anywhere in the kitchen because it brings negativity and bad health

-> Always keep the washbasin clean with no pending dishes to clean. As leftover food from the utensils can create an unhygienic environment in the kitchen and can create negativity in one’s life as per Vastu
